Diversity Awareness Workshop

This two-day workshop is offered four times every academic year: twice before the beginning of Fall Quarter, once in Winter Quarter, and once in Spring Quarter. Participation is available by invitation only to UC Davis and UC Davis Health faculty, staff, and graduate students with teaching appointments. Applications are accepted every summer for the coming academic year's workshop sessions.

Since its inception in 1993, this workshop has engaged participants in dialogues with colleagues with the goal of increasing awareness of and sensitivity to diversity on our campus. Part of the workshop is to discuss ways that we can operationalize our Principles of Community by exploring concepts related to social justice, equity, and inclusion, and how we may dismantle oppression, prejudice, and discrimination.

The Fall 2018 Diversity Awareness Workshops are scheduled for Thursday and Friday, August 16 & 17, 2018 and for Thursday and Friday, September 6 & 7, 2018, both from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. If you are interested in participating in or would like to nominate a colleague for one of these two sessions, please complete the online Participant Interest Form here.

Space is limited, so please respond by July 20th in order to be considered. We will send out notification letters in late July. If selected, participants will receive a confirmation letter with additional information; those not selected this year will be notified and their names will be placed on the waiting list, and they will receive priority for future sessions. At this time we are only able to consider participants who have not attended the workshop in previous years.

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of Campus Community Relations at occr@ucdavis.edu or 530-752-2071.
